Medical Capital Advisors announced today that its client, CeraPedics, Inc., has closed on an $12.25 million private equity financing from OrbiMed Advisors, LLC (www.orbimed.com). Medical Capital Advisors served as investment banking advisor for CeraPedics.
Privately held CeraPedics (Lakewood, Colo.) is a medical device company working toward commercializing products for the orthopedic bone graft substitutes market based on its proprietary small peptide technology.

Medical Capital Advisors announced today that it has been retained on an exclusive basis by Bloomington, Ind.-based Morris Innovative Research (MIR) to explore strategic alternatives for the emerging medical device company, including sale of the company.
Founded in 2002, MIR has developed the FISH (Femoral Introducer Sheath and Hemostasis) device, a biological vascular closure device (VCD) that does not leave foreign material at the vascular puncture (arteriotomy) site. The unique FISH device closes the femoral artery following an interventional or diagnostic endovascular procedure using SIS (small intestinal submucosal), a clinically proven, patented, and proprietary biologic material that completely remodels into native tissue.

Dr. Sundram will serve as Vice President and Medical Director at Medical Capital Development, working in the business development group and facilitating the evolution of cutting-edge medical technologies into growth companies.Most recently, he has served as a pain specialist at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Sundram is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Acumen Medical, an early-stage medical device firm developing catheters for the placement of leads in Bi-Ventricular pacemakers. Previously, Dr. Sundram co-founded ChemTracker Technologies. Dr. Sundram holds four device patents and has co-authored eight scientific papers.
He holds a bachelor of science degree from Wayne State University and graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He also attended the University of Pennsylvania, the School of Anesthesiology and Critical Care. Dr. Sundram completed a pain fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard University.

Andrew M. Streisfeld, will serve as the Chief Financial Officer at Medical Capital Advisors. He served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Brown & Company Securities Corporation for 23 years. After Brown & Company he served as the Chief Financial Officer of a public software company. Mr. Streisfeld also held the position of Chief Executive Officer/Chief Financial Officer of a discount brokerage firm.
He holds a BA in biology from Hartwick College, Oneonta, New York, and a MS/MBA in accounting from Northeastern University Graduate School of Professional Accounting, Boston, MA. Mr. Streisfeld is a certified public accountant.

Medical Capital Advisors announced today that it has further expanded its investment-banking team, effective immediately, with the addition of Tom Duquette and Denise I. Saltojanes.
Tom Duquette will serve as Managing Director of Private Placements at Medical Capital Advisors. Previously, Tom enjoyed a 16-year career as Senior Executive and Associate Director at Bear Stearns & Co. His experience included investment banking, private placements, merchant banking, institutional equities, block trading, derivatives, and hedging.
Tom graduated with honors from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, earning a bachelor’s degree in Economics.
Denise Saltojanes, who will serve as Vice President of Investment Banking at Medical Capital Advisors, will be an integral part of the firm’s Merger and Acquisition team, where she will apply her background in medicine, science and finance. She was a process engineer with General Electric, and Senior Executive at a biopolymer research company in Cambridge, Mass. She has been involved in private financings for orthopedic device and other medical technology companies. Additionally, Denise has held positions at the Orthopedic Biomedical and Biomaterial Lab at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Denise holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire, and she graduated magna cum laude with an MBA from Babson College.
